REPORTS OF MANAGERS Mahakipawa (Marlborough). The leading face has run into old workings,, which appear to have been driven parallel to the main drive, but a few feet north of it. There is about 12in. of bottom in the face, but the wash is stil! poor. The cut south was driven 20ft. in. schist bottom, at which distance it cut cemented wash carrying gold. The bottom of this new gutter is about 2ft„ above the iioor of the cut. The wall, which is comparatively soft, is undercut where we intersected it. The new gutter is about 6ft.«wide, and dish prospects give good values. The gold is similar to that won last year. The lead is being followed downhill. Little progress has. been made in the false bottom, as w& have encountered numerous difficulties. Mataki (Murchison). —The dredge pulled ahead 3oft. in ground of an average depth of 16ft.
