PRICES AT MORRINSVILLE LARGE YARDINGS OFFERED The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company. Limited, held its usual we«kly stock sale at Morrinsville on Friday, when there was an extra heavy yarding of all classes of stock. A medium entry of fat sheep came forward before a good bench of buyers, late rates being maintained. Practically no store lambs were penned. The advertised line of breeding ewes from the Tokomaru Bay. district met with spirited competition.. Ox beef was yarded in average numbers, and the quality was np to the standard ol previous sales.

There was an exceptionally heavy yardins of cow and heifer beef, with a good proportion of well-finished cattle. The market was firm throughout for this class. ,An exceptionally heavy yarding of second quality and boner cows came forward, and a complete clearance was effected at late firm rates. The advertised line of Polled Angus and Hereford cows and heifers from Gisborne created better attention, and a complete dispersal was effected at satisfactory rates. A good yarding of Jersey heifer calves sold at increased prices. A heary yarding of in-calf heifers came forward, but only in a few instances was the quality up to standard. Competition was fair, and well-grown heifers, forward in-calf, realised satisfactory prices. There was a full yard- j ing of pigs, with competition particularly keen for baconers. Porkers remained firm at ruling rates, while stores maintained the prevous week's advanced prices. At Dalgety and Company's sale there ■was a fair yarding of cattle, which sold at full late rates. Fat Hereford heifers. £5 3s; ordinary fat cows, £2 16s to £3 14s; fleshy Jersey cows. 34s to 40s; boners, 20s to 325; light boners. 14s to 225 ; bulls. £2 15s. There was only a small yarding of pies. Light baconers realised £2 7 s and light stores 19s. Sheep were yarded in fair numbers, including a consignment from the East Coast.. The sheep were nearly all two-tooth ewes in lamb to Southdown rams. The best sold at up to 25s 3d; smaller twotooth ewes, running with ram, 23s 3d. A line of mixed-aged late-shorn ewes, in lamb to Southdown rams, made 20s. The New Zealand. Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, also held a sale at Morrinsville on Friday. In the cattle section a complete clearance was effected, recent market rates ruling throughout. A few heifer calves sold satisfactorily. The advertised sheep came forward. Considering that the sheep were in low condition, and did not look especially attractive, the keen competition was very satisfactory and values were up to expectations. All changed hands. Forward iat lambs, 15s 3d:' medium fat wethers, 21s; 547 four, six and eight-tooth ewes low conditioned, running with Romney rams, 23s 9d: 210 good twotooth ewes, 23s 6d to 245; mixed-aged ewes, 14s lOd; a pen of 196 medium ewe lambs, 12s lOd. STUD SHEEP AT CLAUDELAND3 [from our own correspondent] Hamilton, Saturday A combined sale was held at the Claudelands pavilion of the stock from the Springfield Borhney Marsh stud, the property of Messrs. F. R. Seddon and Son, and the Karamu stud, the property of Mr. J. H. Gore. There was a large bench of buyers and bidding was brisk throughout. Prices ranged from sgns to lSgns. for Rom- j ney rams, the latter figure being paid by Messrs. Levett Brothers, of W ell sf or a. North Auckland. The top price for twoyear Romney ewes was 6jgns., paid by Mr. H. B. Johnson, of Fielding. The maximum price for'a line of in-lamb Southdown stud ewes was s{gns, paid by Mr. T. R. At Kaeo the largest yarding of stock for several years came forward, consisting mainly of boner cattle. There was a pood attendance of buyers and competition was fairly keen. GOLD AND SILVER QUOTATIONS IN LONDON (Received May 26, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON. May 25 Fine gold is quoted to-day at £7 2s an 07.., compared with £7 Is 6d yesterday, and £7 Is Hd on Thursday. Silver was quoted yesterday at 3-iJd an oz. spot, and 34|d forward, compared witb 34 11-16 d and 34 15-lGd on May 22. The quotation for silver at per fine oz. yesterday was 36 13-16 d, compared with 36Jd on Thursday.

MORTGAGE AND DEPOSIT CO. The accounts of the Wellington Deposit, Mortgage and Building Association, Limited, show a profit for the year ended March 31 of £9Ol, which, with £1126 brought forward, makes £2027 available in the profit and loss account. The directors recommend that the dividend be passed and this sum carried forward. No dividend has been paid since 1932, when 7 per cent was distributed.

BRITISH TREASURY BILLS (Received May 2G, 5.5 p.m.) British Wireless RUGBY. May 25 The total amount applied for this week in tenders for £40,000,000 worth of Treasury bills was £57.885,000. Tho maximum amount was allotted in bills at three months. The average rate per cent was 10s 5.90 d, compared with. 10s 2.95 d a week ago.
