COMPETITION AT HAMILTON FRANKTON MAINTAINS LEAD Rugby football competitions were continued in the various country centres of tho Auckland Province on Saturday afternoon. The following results were forwarded by correspondents of the Herald: — Hamilton.—Frankton maintained its position at the head of the senior competition, defeating Marist by 20 points to 15. A movement initiated nepr his own twentyfive saw Denz (Frankton) carry tho ball thirty yards before transferring to Wilson. After a cut-in Wilson passed back again mid Denz scored. The game between Old Boys and Technical Old Boys resulted in a win for Old Boys by 14 points to 12. Miller scored a try for Old Boys, which Lissette converted. In the senior A grade the principal fixture was between Pukekohe and Franklin at Pukekohe, ana resulted in a win for the former by 9 points to 3. The game was held at Bledisloe P ark in fine weather and drew the largest attendance so far this season. An innovation for Pukekohe footbnll matches was the presence of the Municipal Band, which played a programme of music. Ririnui kicked a penalty goal for Te Puna, and then a fine passing run by the Te Puna backs was finished oft by J Ririnui FCoring. Matakana then rallied and before half time equalised the score as the result of a try by T. Faulkner and a penalty goal by J Ferguson. Te Awamutu.—Chief interest in the Waipa Rugby Union's championship competitions centred in the meeting of Rovers and Te Awamutu in the senior grade, neither side having been defeated. It proved to be a v-ery exciting and even contest. B. Quin and Sutherland scored tries for Te Awamutu in the first spell Soon after resuming It. Young scored two tries in quick succession for Rovers, touching down wide out. The game ended in u draw. The other senior contest was between Waikeria and Suburbs, the latter team undefeated so far. It was weakened, however, by having three players away with the Waikato representatives at Thames, and Waikeria won by a converted try to nil.
