CARS IN COLLISION
TWO WOMEN INJURED ACCIDENT AT RANGIRIRI HEAVY FOG AT TIME MOTORS DAMAGED EXTENSIVELY Two women received severe head injuries and shock as the result of a collision in heavy fog between two cars on the Great South Road, near Rangiriri, shortly before 7.30 list evening. Tho injured were Mrs. A. J. Joughin, of Wallace Street, Heme Bay, and Mrs. A. R. Thomas, of 10 Mercer Road, Ponsonby. The two women were passengers in a small car driven by Mr. A. R. Thomas, who was proceeding over the Rangiriri Hill toward Auckland. Mr. Thomas' son, Clifford, aged 15, was also a passenger in the car. Near the top of the hill the car came into collision with a car driven by Mr. Allan James Smith, of Page Street, . Morrinsville, which was travelling in the opposite direction. Mr. Smith had as passengers his brother, Mr. W. M. Smith, of Morrinsville, and Miss Amy Fawcett, of Frankton. In the collision Mr. Thomas' car swerved violently to the side of the road and the two injured women were thrown out. Mr. Thomas and his son
suffered slight cuts and shock, but the occupants of the other car escaped injury. Both car 3 were considerably damaged. Medical attention was obtained and Constable E. L. Walton, of Huntly,
was summoned. The injured women were taken to the Rangiriri Hotel, pending the arrival of an ambulance from the Waikato Hospital. In spite cf the heavy fog the ambulance made a fast trip. The condition of the two women was reported late last night to be not serious.
