MINING DISPUTE
DEADLOCK AT WAIHI COMMITTEE TO BE APPOINTED [BY TELEGRAPH—OWN CORRESPONDENT] WAIHI. Sunday A further meeting of members of the Ohinemuri Mines and Batteries Union was held to-day to consider the proposed new industrial agreement previously discussed at conferences between the union's representatives and the mine owners' representatives. Following tho last conference a deadlock had arisen between tho parties. As the result of to-day's meeting the dispute will be referred to a committee to be appointed under the Labour Disputes Investigation Act, 1913. The committee will consist of six members, three of whom will represent tho union and three the mine owners. The Act provides that the chairman shall bo a member of the committee. If the parties fail to agree regarding tho chairmanship tho Government will appoint a chairman, who, however, will have no voting power. Meanwhile work in and about the mine will go 011 as usual.
