AMATEURS IN ENGLAND INVADERS THINNED OUT TITLE-HOLDER UNBEATEN TOLLEY'S HARD STRUGGLE By Telegraph—Press Sssociation—Copyright (Received May 23, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, May 23 Although some of the invaders have been thinned out of the Amateur Golf Championship, the strongest challenger, W. L. Little (holder of the title), remains in. He is expected to meet Cyril Tolley in the semi-final on Friday. In the third round, the fact of Little being superior in the short game told against the Formby player Zacharias. Tolley had to fight to the last putt to beat Chris Buckey, a former Association football player. Additional results are:—
Second Round. —Tolley defeated Taylor, 3 and 2; Bourn defeated Howell, 4 and 3; Garnett defeated Ridgeway, 3 and 1; Henriques defeated Crawley, 3 and 2.
Third Round.—Fiddian defeated Tailer (America), 2 and 1; Little (America, holder of title), defeated J. Zacharias, 4 and 3; Topping (America), defeated Bourn, 4 and 3; Garnett defeated Llewellyn, 4 and 3; Henriques defeated Shaffer (America), 3 and 1; Tolley defeated Buckey, 1 up; Brig-adier-General Critchley defeated Hon. Denys Scott, 4 and 3; Torrance defeated Black (Canada), 5 and 4.
