WAIHI CRUSHING RETURNS 43750 Z. OF* GOLD IN 17 DAYS [BY TELECBAPH-—OWN CORRESPONDENT] WAIHI, Thursday The following information has been cabled to the London office of the .Waihi Gold Mining Qprapany:— For the period ended May 11, comprising 171 crushing days, 14,741 tons of ore were crushed for a result of 4375 fine ountfes of gold and 26,656 fine ounces of silver. This includes 1477 tons mined from the Grand Junction area, which yielded 373 fine ounces of gold and 1133 fine ounces of silver. No. 2 Level.—Edward lode: Roach winze has been sunk a-further "28ft. in good grade ore about Sift. wide. Vein at 10ft. in Hooper crosscut: Driving has advanced west a further 38ft.. the assay value over this distance being 18s 3d a ton and the width of the lode about 2ft. No. 7 Level.—North branch of the Martha lode: Driving west the next 37ft. assays lis a ton and the next sft. is ore of good grade about l|ft. wide. n
BENDIGO GOLDLIGHT DREDGE The Bendigo Goldlight dredge commenced .operations on the Upper Clutha River (Central Otago) this week. QUEENSLAND GOLD YIELD During April 11.556 fine ounces of gold -were won in Queensland, compared with 8857 fine ounces in April, 1934. PLACER TAKES NEW OPTION New Pyrenees Alhmals, N.L., Melbourne, reports having granted a working option of purchase for 12 months over its areas at Avoca, Victoria, to Placer Development. Limited. The purchase price is £20,000 in cash and 20 per cent of the shares to be issued fully paid in any company formed to take over the property. The company is also to have the right to subscrihe for 25 per cent of the 1 contributing capital of the operating company.
