WESTFI ELD QUOTATIONS DEMAND STILL INDIFFERENT Average yardings of store and dairy cattle were forward at the Westfield weekly stock sale yesterday. There was a fair bench of buyers, but the demand generally was indifferent. In the store section values'" were on a par with recent rates and only boner bulls showed an upward tendency. Several fat bulls realised in the vicinity of £5. The quality offering in dairy cattle was not high and competition was only brisk when anything showing up well was offered. Buyers were not tempted in many instances and a fair number of lines was passed in. The best realisation was £5 10s for a fine type of Ayrshire cow. Jersey-crosses and Shorthorn cows and heifers sold fairly well, while a few heifers, close to profit, realised just over £5. The average prices were on a par with the reduced values of last week. There was a good attendance of buyers. A good sale of sheep and cattle resulted, sheep selling at late while cattle showed a marked improvement on the last Frankton sale. There was a medium yarding of fat pigs and a full entry of stores and weaners, which met with keen demand and sold at well up to market rates. There were only a few pens of heavy baconers, and they sold under spirited competition. The balance of the fat pigs comprised unfinished baconers and heavy porkers. Light porkers sold at full market rates. OTOROHANGA YARDING The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, report having held a stock sale at Otorohanga on Wednesday, when a good all-round yarding came forward. A few pens of breeding ewes were offered and were in good demand. No alteration took place in quotations for fat sheep. There was a good yarding of cattle, comprising fresh-conditioned boner cows, and these sold at unchanged rates. A few light fat cows and heifers sold under gjood competition. There was only a small entry of pigs, comprising mostly porkers, stores and weaners. Prices were unchanged. Quotations: Fat wethers, 18s fid to 20s; fat ewes. 14s 6d to lfis; S.M. breeding ewes, r.w. Thursday A sale of pedigree Jersey cattle was conducted at Claudelands to-day by Wright, Stephenson and Company, Limited, on behalf of Mr. H. H. Phillips, of Te Rehunga, Hawke's Bay. The female stock sold well at satisfactory prices, but bulls were in little demand, the majority being passed in. The best price paid was 25 guineas for the cow, Jersey Meadows Moird. Other cows sold from 10} to 20 guineas and one bull sold at 13 guineas.
