RISE IN BUTTER PRICES A SHORTAGE OF FISH A rise of Id in the price of both first and second grade factory butter is the chief change in the retail prices of foodstuffs during the past* week. The prices of eggs, which have been steadily increasing during the month, have remained unchanged. Owing to the cold weather there has been little demand for fruit. Best quality Jamaican oranges, which were previously realising 3s a pound, are selling at 2s 6d. Queensland pineapples have slightly increased in value. Potatoes and celery are cheaper. Values for fish have remained unchanged, although there has been a shortage of schnapper, and flounder has been practically unprocurable. Prices are:— FRUIT Apples, ;cookir3, P.
