WEATHER FAIR TO FINE SOME FROSTS INLAND The weather report and forecast for New Zealand, issued last evening by the Government meteorologist, was as follows: —A depression located off East €Jape is moving gradually eastwards. A shallow depression is advancing across the Tasman Sea, while an anti-cyclone covers the greater part of Australia. Indications are for southerly winds, still strong about and north of Cook Strait, and of gale force on parts of the East Coast, but decreasing. Elsewhere, moderate winds, veering to westerly in the southern half of th<> South island. Seas moderate south of Farewell Spit and Akaroa. Elsewhere rather rough to rough, but decreasing. In the eastern Tasman Sea moderate southerly winds, veering temporarily to westerlies in the southern portion. Seas moderate, with a considerable swell. Some scattered rain in east coast districts, mainlv between Castlepoint unci East Cape, but gradually improving. Elsewhere fair to fine. Co'ld temperatures, with inland frosts and some morning fogs.

SPECIAL AUCKLAND FORECAIJT AN IMPROVEMENT EXPECTED The Government meteorologist issued to the Herald last evening the following special forecast for the Auckland Province: —Moderate to strong southwesterly winds, decreasing to-morrow. Weather still changeable, with a few scattered showers, but improving. Temperatures cold. Seas rough on the west coast and rather rough on the east coast, but moderating. YESTERDAY'S WEATHER Auckland. —Heavy rain fell yesterday morning, but conditions improved later in the day. There was a fresh south-westerly wind. The baromtier rose rapidly after mid-day.
