CLUB EVENING
MUSIC AND DRAMA The Overseas Club rooms were attractively decorated last night when the Orpheus Music and Dramatic Club held its second evening of the season. The guests, numbering over 100, were received by Miss Tlieo. Halpin and Mr. Robert Simmers. Vocal solos were rendered by Mrs. Eric Webb, Rena Geddes and Harry Robertson. " Arise, O Sun " (Day) was given as a duet by Mrs. Webb and Mr. Shepherd, and " C'onie, Fill the Cup " (Lehmann) was given a spirited rendering by Madge Taylor, Jean Menzies, C. Shepherd and R. Simmers. Pianoforte solos, "Mazurka" (Chopin) and "Poem" (Fibisch) were played by Lorna Frith, and Edna Bunting contributed "Syncopated Waltz" (Besly) and "Turkish Rondo" (Mozart). The concerted numbers, which proved deservedly popular, included two quartettes played by Frances Lee, Hilda Bater, Connie Bisset, Esmay Porter, Lorna Frith, Camille Le Long, Edna Grinter and Joyce McKean, and also a duo by Theo. Halpin and Lucy Tripp. During the evening a sketch entitled " A Modern Courtship " was given by M iss Noni Wright and Mr. Jack Parsons.
