HARKNESS FELLOWSHIP
STUDY IN UNITED STATES AWARD TO NEW ZEALANDER [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION"] WELLINGTON, Monday ' A Harkness Community Fellowship has been awarded to Mr. J. G. Gibbs, son of Dr. H. E. Gibbs, of Wellington, and a member of the staff of the Palmerston North plant research station. The fellowship entitles the holder to two years' study in the United States. These fellowships were endowed by Mrs. Harkness, wife of a railway magnate, and a number of them are awarded to civil servants of the British Empire. Mrs. Harkness, who was a Scottish woman, included the British Empire in the scheme with a desire to see happy relations established between America and Britain.
