A COLOURFUL BALL WELLINGTON FUNCTION Both inside and outside the Wellington Town Hall presented a most attractive appearance on Thursday evening, when the United Services, naval,-mili-tary, air division, and the Legion of Frontiersmen were responsible for a Jubilee Ball that was a most sacct?ful function. The hall-was flood-ligliteu outside and inside a vista of warm red carpeting could be seen, with gresn painted tubs containing well grown trees and shrubs, all effectively arranged. Overhead were chains of coloured lights, flags, and naval and military devices on shields. At 9.15 p.m. Their Excellencies and a party from Government House arrived, and were met at the door lay Major-General Sir W. L. H. SinclairBurgess, Colonel and Mrs. Weston, Captain L. Vaughan Morgan and Mrs. Morgan, and Wing-Commander 1. M. Wilkes. Their Excellencies passed through a guard of honour of Legion of Frontiersmen, and then went into the main hall. Applause followed them from the guests, and when they arrived at their alcove, Colonel and Mrs. Svmon were there to give them the special welcome from the Services. Her Excellency wore a handsome frown of pearl white satin, with a cape effect edged with white ostrifch feather, and diamond ornaments, the corsage having a cluster of pale pink orchids.
