WINTER COMPETITIONS The Auckland Amateur Athletic and Cycle Club held its second winter field contests on Saturday afternoon in the Outer Domain. All events were keenly contested. J. W. Savidan was in good form and won the 3000 yds steeplechase by 60yds, after conceding liberal handicaps. The 75yds sprint was run in four heats, the final being closely contested by the 12 runners, the winner, J. Dunn, gaining a close victory. The shot putting was also closely contested, W. E. Buckley winning from J. Dunn by 2in, with D. Mitchell only an inch behind in third place. The discus was won by S. A. Hanson with 111 ft. lOin. Fourth heat: Dunn, 1; Beauchamp, 2; McNiel, 3. Time, Bs. Final: J. Dunn, 9yds, 1; P. E. Castle, 3iyds, 2; S. A. Hanson, 7}yds, 3. Time, 7 4-ss. Throwing the Discus.—S. A.
