AWARDS FOR SPORTS EVENTS [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] WHANGAREI, Saturday At the close of the camp of the North Auckland Mounted Rifles the commanding officer of the regiment, Lieu-tenant-Colonel W. 11. Lang, was presented with four cups by Mr. L. W. Nelson, president of the Whangarei Territorial Association. The cups are for trophies for sports events of the regiment. Mr. Nelson said that the association hoped to promote many competitions during the year with the object of encouraging keenness among volunteers. The association, which was steadily increasing in numbers, was behind the authorities in all the essential work they were performing. Lieutenant-Colonpl Lang said it was a great help to young men to know that the citizens of the town were taking an interest in their welfare.
