TWO MEN INJURED

STRUCK BY SHEET OF IRON ONE IN SERIOUS CONDITION ACCIDENT AT NEWMARKET Two men were injured, one of them seriously, as a result of being struck by a sheet of iron at the yards of Hayes and Company, sack and bottle merchants, 429 Broadway, Newmarket, about 9.30 yesterday morning. Mr. Louis C. S. Hill, aged 26, married, of 18 Gladstone Road, Parnell, suffered a fracture of the skull, and was later admitted to the Auckland Hospital. His condition last night was serious. The second man involved, Mr. R. Price, of 1 Wilton Street, Grey Lynn, escaped with minor injuries to the right thigh. With Mr. Hill, he was taken to hospital in a St. John ambulance, but he was not admitted. The accident occurred while the two men were loading a heavy sheet of iron into a railway truck in the yard. Mr. Hill slipped, and both he and Mr. Price were struck by the sheet of iron as it fell Neither was at first thought to have been seriously injured, although Mr. Hill, who had a gash on his head, was taken to a chemist's shop for attention. An ambulance was summoned to take both men to hospital, and on arrival it was found that Mr. Hill's skull had been fractured.
