PAPATOETOE INTERESTS
A request made to the Post and Telegraph Department by the Papatoetoe Ratepayers' Welfare League for a reduction in the charges for toll calls from suburban districts was the subject of a letter from the Postmaster-Gen-eral, Hon. A. Hamilton, received at a meeting of the league on Thursday evening. Mr Hamilton stated that in view of the heavy loss involved tihe proposal could not be entertained. Matters of local interest were discussed It was decided to request t'he Papatoetoe Town Board that in view of reduced interest charges, the board should consider a reduction in rates and also that th<? board should make provision for tennis courts and a bovi'llnE green. After consideration of requests that the league should amalgamate with the local Chamber of Commerce, it wan unanimously decided to remain a sepwate body.
