AUCKLAND OBSERVANCE MONDAY'S ARRANGEMENTS LARGE PARADE AT DOMAIN OTHER PUBLIC ATTRACTIONS Preparations for the part which Auckland will take in the celebration of the silver jubilee of the King arc now nearing completion. Although the celebrations will extend throughout next week, the actual date of the jubilee is Monday, which will bo observed as a public holiday. The principal event that day- will be the ceremonial parade at the Domain. The parade, which will be in charge of Colonel" J. E. Duigan, officer commanding the Northern Command, will include representatives of the Navy, Army and Air Force and should make an impressive sight. At 9.30 a.m. the troops will! march from their assembling position in the inner Domain and form up on the inspection line. I ive minutes later officers and colours will take post, in review order. Following the arrival of the reviewing officer, Commodore the Hon. E. R. Drummond, officer commanding the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy, fit 9.40, ho will take post at the saluting base and will receive the Royal Salute. Commodoro Drummond will then review the troops. Parade to March Past Prior to the review, ex-servicemen will march past the saluting base and will then form up on either flank. At 10.15 the reviewing officer will again take post at the saluting base and tho whole parade will march past in order of seniority and to the tune of various regimental marches. After marching past, the troops will re-form on their original alignment. The reviewing officer will take post facing the Union Jack and the whole line will advance in review order. This will be followed by a Royal Salute given by a battery on the high ground near tho Museum. Tho reviewing officer will then call for three cheers for His Majesty. Commodore Drummond will leave the ground at 11.10 and will receive a general salute as ho makes his departure. . The troops on parade m order ot seniority vi'ill be as follows: Royal Navy, Royal Marines, detachment Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, detachment Royal New Zealand Artillery, Auckland Mounted Rifles, Royal New Zealand Air Force, Ist Field Brigade New Zealand Artillery, Northern Coast Group New Zealand Artillery, Ist 1' ield Company New Zealand Engineers, Northern Depot Corps of Signals, No. 1 Company New Zealand Army Service Corps, Northern Depot New Zealand Medical Corps, Ist Battalion Auckland Regiment, detachment Hauraki Regiment, detachment Waikato Regiment, Ist Battalion North Auckland Regiment, Ist, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Cadet Battalions Auckland Regiment and 2nd and 3rd Cadet Battalions North Auckland Regiment Attendance of Bands

Associated with Colonel Duigan, officer in charge of the parade, w ill bo Lieutenant-Colonel R. Miles, Commander M. Farquhar and Major D. H. Donaldson. Massed bands will be commanded by Captain V. J. Innes, with Honorary Lieutenant F. Bowes as musical director We bands will be those of the Royal Navv, the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, the Auckland Mounted Rifles, the Northern Command Artillerv, 'lst Battalion Auckland Regiment, Ist Battalion North Auckland Regiment and 2nd Cadet Battalion (Grammar School). While the troops are assembling the Auckland Municipal Band, under the direction of Captain G. Buckley, will give a varied programme of popular music. The Mayor, Mr. G. W. Hutchison, the town clerk, Mr. J. S. Brigham, and many member* of tlie City Council will attend a thanksgiving service in St. Matthew's Church on Monday morning at 11 o'clock. For the benefit of those wlho will be unable to gain admission to the church it lias been decided to place loud-speakers outside the building. The service will also be broadcast by IYA. In the evening a united service will be held in the Baptist Tabernacle under the auspices of the Auckland Council of Christian Congregations. Special Concert in Town Hall Although the City Council has decided to make the Domain cricket ground and the stadium available to any sports body on Monday, on the condition that the public is admitted free, it is not known whether the offer will be accepted. No details are available as to whether arrangements are being made by any organisation. On Monday night the City Council has made arrangements for a special concert, whi'h will bo held in the Town Hall.

A striking spectacle in connection with the celebrations on Monday will he tho lighting of a series of bonfires throughout New Zealand by the Boy Scouts' organisation. The first lire will be lighted en Mount lvlen at 7.80 p.m., awl. although final arrangements have not vet been completed, it is expected that it will be lit by the Mayor of Auckland, Mr. Ci W. Hutchison, and the Mayor of Mount Kden. Mr. T. MoNab. The other fires will he lighted at 7.;ir, p.m. 11l the Auckland district there will lw fires on Mount Albert, One Tree Hill, Mount Wellington, Mangere Mountain, Mount Victoria, Kauri Point and Coatsville, and it is hoped also on the Manukau Heads. Complete details for the North arc not yet available, but there will be fires in the neighbourhood of Warkworth and at Dargaville and Whangarei. , , The Waikato will he up through Pukekohu and a lire on Faiipiri Mountain. At Hamilton the civic authorities are co-operating with the Boy Scouts' Association, and the chain will bo continued through Cambridge and To Awamutu. In the upper Waikato high places are more scarce, and through" the Morrinsville, Thames and Putaruru districts and over to Tauranga most of tho fires will be on the fiat, Tho permission of the Minister of Internal Affairs to light the bonfires has been obtained and the lorest rangers in each district will co-operate. STAFJi- AT HOSPITAL HOLIDAY OR EXTRA PAY A decision to grant either a day's holiday or a day's pay to members of its staff in honour of the .silver jubilee of tho King's accession was decided on at a special meeting of the Auckland Hospital Board yesterday. 011 the motion of the chairman, Mr. W. Wallace, it was decided to grant a special paid holiday to all employees who could he spared from duty on Monday, the day of tho celebrations To those who had to work, 1111 extra day's pay would be given in lieu ol holiday, and members of the nursing staff would be allowed an extra, dav s holiday or an extiu day's pay at their, option.
