LIBRARIAN'S MEMORIAL

LATE MABEL OLIVER Subscribers to the Epsom branch of the Auckland Public Libraries have arranged for the unveiling of a memorial tablet to the late Miss Mabel Oliver, who was for 12 years librarian at Epsom. The ceremony will be performed to-morrow evening at the Epsom Library by Miss Ellen Melville, ehairman of the Libraries Committee of the Auckland City Council. The tablet is cast in solid bronze from a design and mould by Mr. 11. 0. Gross, and is mounted on a blfick polished frame. The cost has been defrayed by subscriptions from patrons of the Epsom Library, who number over 400. The inscription is as follows: —" In remembrance of Mabel Oliver, Librarian. 1923-35. Died 18/1/35. Her work on behalf of patrons was marked by unfailing cheerfulness and courtesy. She was a friend to subscribers and beloved of the children. Erected 1935."
