THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE SOUTH BRITISH RECORD -•r"' A feature of business oil the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday was a jale in South British Insurance at 995, which is equal to the record price established in cum dividend trading two weeks ago. The investment market, generally was firmer, with turnover well u p to the average. Renewed interest was shown in Government loans, the 4 per cent issues being sought at advances of from 2s 6d to 10s. The strength of the current demand for these was reflected in sales .. 0 f 1955 bonds 15s higher at £lll 15s a nd 1946 stock £l, higher at £lO7 ss. Xhe 1910 stock changed hands at the previous rate, £lO4 ss. inquiry for banks was dull, in spite of selling concessions in several Australian issues. The only business was in Reserve Banks 9d higher at £6 los .jd, and Bank of New Zealand D mortgage 3d dearer at 31s. i«'or South British Insurance, sellers pere unchanged at. 100s, and the appearance of buyers at 9Ss 6d accompanied trading Is 3d higher at S)9s. There was a steady demand for other issues. ; Leading industrials remained well uupported, offers for such issues as broken Hill Proprietary, Bvcrofts and British Tobaccos being increased. New Zealand Breweries changed hands twice l3(i higher at 555, and Farmers' Fertilisers were done at. 19s and 19s 6d, also a rise of 6d. .In a sale at 19s 3d, Kauri Timbers established a gain of lid. Pukemiro Coals sold at 22s 6d, which is 2s 6d lower than a month ago, and Dunlop Perdriau at 17s 3d, ii drop of 4d. Other issues, including Wilsons Cement and Auckland Gas, 'irere placed at current rates.
