MARAMARUA HUNT

OPENING OF SEASON The opening of the season of the Maramarua Hunt was held yesterday. Although the weather was showery in the morning, it cleared before the hunt commenced. At a hunt breakfast held in the Maramarua Hall at mid-day the master, Mr. J. D. Fagan, welcomed visitors from the Pakuranga Hunt and Cambridge. The hounds threw ofT on the property of Mr. H. K Jones, unci then worked over Messrs. Peach and Goodwin's property. At Mr. Peach's place a strong hare was put up, and a fine run ensued until the quarry took cover at the back of Mr. Jones' property. Before long the hounds were in pursuit of another hare ou Mr. Goodwin's place, and after a short run the first kill of the season was secured. Immediately afterward a new scent, took the followers through the property of Messrs. Hale and Peach and back to Mr. Goodwin's, where the scent was lost. After the hunt, afternoon tea was provided at the Maramarua Hull. The followers were addressed by Mr. W. W. Massey, M.P. Anions the followers were the master, Mr. J. D.
