NEW ZEALANDERS ABROAD [from our own correspondent] By Air ilail LONDON, April 13 Mr. John Edwards, who was a member of the Glen Eden Town Board in 1932, and who has been in Australia since January, 1933, arrived in London by tho Hobson's Bay a week ago. I)r. Jefcoate Harbutt, of Auckland, lias completed an eight months' appointment at the Royal Derbyshire Hospital, Derby, and, aftelr- a motor tour with his wife, he will take up an appointment as resident medical officer at the Samaritan. Free Hospital, Marylebone Road. I)r. and Mrs. Harbutt have mapped out a tour for Devonshire and Cornwall. Mr. F. C. Menzies (Auckland) is at present staying in Southsea. During the silver jubilee celebrations he ami his daughter, Miss Jean Menzies, will be in London, and they will tour England and Scotland and subsequently will go to the Continent. They expect to leave on their return in November

' Flying-Officer C. L. Monckton, of Waipukurau. an<l Mr. G. :R. Isherwood, of Blenheim, hare arrived in England after having served for fivo years abroad with the Royal Air Force. At the expiration of their leave they expect to lie posted to a squadron in England. In the meantime they have, planned a motoring; holiday in England. Mr. and Mrs. «J. T. Toss will, of Auckland, have reached England from the Federated Malay States, and have planned to go on to New Zealand by the Rangitata in July. Mr. Tosswill's leave, after three years of duty, will enable hi.ru to have about six weeks in. the Dominion. Mrs. Toss will, howerer, will remain there for six months longer. _ Mr. John Roberts, of Wellwood, Selkirk, son of the late Sir John Roberts, of Dunedin, has been elected Provost of Selkirk in succession lio the late Provost Ballantyne. Mr. Roberts, who is a director of the tweed manufacturing firm of George Roberts and Co., Forest Mill, > s tho fourth member of his family to occupy the civic chair of Selkirk within the past 70 years.
