TWEED SUITS IN FAVOUR VOGUE FOR BROWN AND FAWN Except for one sharp shower the weather was favourable for the first day of the Avondale Jockey Club's Autumn Meeting on Saturday. Tailored suits in cloth, accompanied by furs, and heavy tweed overcoats with fur collars were worn extensively, while the ever-useful Harris tweed suits were much in evidence. Brown in all the varying shades and fawn were extremely popodar, black being next in choice. Hats in matching materials, or in felt and velour, were in many cases finished with a feather mount or quill, and looked attractive and trim. Among those present were:—Lady Burdett, who wore a navy blue ensemble and small navy felt hat; Mrs. Donald McLeod, heather brown mixed tweed suit with fur necklet and a brown felt hat; Mrs. H. M. Rogerson, navy and fawn tweed ensemble and navy velour hat; Mrs. G. W. Hutchison, mole fur-trimmed coat and a mole velour hat banded with blue; Mrs. H. E. Vaile navy and wine tweed ensemble and small navy velour hat; Mrs. J. C. Beale, maize mixed tweed suit and maize hat to match; Mrs. G, H. Philson, grey tweed suit and small navy hat; Mrs. A. J. Farquhar, grey tailored suit with fur necklet and small grey hat; Mrs. Duncan Clerk, black marocain ensemble and black hat; Mrs. John Alexander, brown tweed ensemble and brown velour hat; Mrs. H. M.
