PRISON SENTENCE
AUSTRALIAN SALESMAN ARRESTED IN NEW ZEALAND STOLEN CARS RECEIVED By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received April 15, 7.5 p.m.) SYDNEY. April 15 Roy William Godding, motor-car salesman, was sentenced to-day to six months' imprisonment for having received two motor-cars which.were stolen in 1932. Godding was arrested in New Zealand. Proceedings to have an accused person returned to Australia were held in the Auckland Police Court on January 21, when Roy William Godding, aged 36, was charged with stealing a motor-car valued at £2OO, the property of the Colonial Mutual Life Assurance Society, Limited, at Sydijcy on June 20, 1932. Senior-Detective Hall made the application for extradition, accused being represented by Mr. Singer and Mr. Meek.
Detective A. Moore, of Auckland said he arrested accused on a provisional warrant on January 3, accused admitting that he was the person mentioned in the warrant. Accused made a statement that he was a native of Queensland, and that he was married: Detective-Constable N. J. Scholtz, of Sydney, requested that accused should return to New South Wales in his company, under an order from the Court. The magistrate ordered that accused should be handed over to the Sydney officer to be returned to New South Wales and the escorting officer and accused left by the Aorangi for Sydney the same evening. ' •
