CARNIVAL AT HELENSVILLE
The chief event at the Helensville swimming carnival held on Saturday night w»s the 100 yds North Auckland championship, which was won by R. Sellars in 61 3-5». M. Hansen was second. The 100 yds backstroke club championship was won by T. Keane, with R. Sellars second, in 79s Some very close finishes were seen in the handicap events, especially in the finish of the open 50yds, with ,D. Keane (4s\ and R. Sellars (scr) finishing together in 30s and 26s respectively. Other results were:— 33 l-3Yds Primary Schools' Backstroke.P. Dempsey, 1; Hunter, 2. SOYds Novice.—D. McMurdo, 1; W. Rimmer. 2. „ „ ... 33 l-3Yds Ladies. —Miss M. Spence, 1; Miss W. Sellars, 2. , „ Junior Boys, 100yds.—G. Sellars, 1; w, Spenc«>. 2. . „ _ . 33 1-3 Yds Primary Schoolgirls.—M. Hunter. 1; R. Zelas, 2. . ~ . Four teams of six lined up for the primary schools' race. Two Helensville teams, on scratch, were disqualified for breaking, but they wt>n with a man to spare. Kaukapakapa was awarded first place, with St. Domixuo * second.
