THE DAIRY FARMER
Sir, —According to figures supplied by the Government, it costs the dairy fanner from lUd to Is per pound to produce butter, for which, for the four years past, he has been getting from 7d to 9d per pound. This surely makes the dairying industry a charitable institution, and even if the farmer and his family live on grass, it would be interesting to know how he pays interest and rates. Chol-Smith.
