ANOTHER SENIOR TEAM MOUNT ALBERT ADMITTED The application of the Mount Albert Club to enter a senior grade team during the coining season was approved of at last evening's meeting of the Auckland Rugby League. The chairman, Mr. 1 G. Grey-Campbell, said the constitution of the league provided for not more ] than seven teams in the senior grade 1 competition. The Chairman said he had ( given the matter every consideration and was impressed with the playing \ strength of the new club. The present senior clubs, however, had to be protected, and it was necessary that no ; transfers should be permitted to Mount ' Albert from other senior clubs. Mr, Campbell mentioned that the district scheme, without residential qualifications, would soon have to be considered. Mr. R. Doble spoke in support of the application. It was evident, he said, that there was plenty of support in the district to warrant the team's inclusion in the senior grade. The reservations mentioned by the chair- 1 man were givon effect to. The draw for the senior grade will be made after the Easter holidays. Applications Jot membership from 19 seniors and GO juniors were approved. Mr. D. Wilkie, chairman of the Junior Board, said a record number of junior applications for membership had been received. The question of a selector for the Auckland team was briefly discussed and referred to the clubs for nominations. It was pointed out that already one club had asked that a sole selector be appointed this season. The action of the New Zealand Rugby League in controlling the visits of overseas club teams when invited by affiliated leagues was mentioned by Mr. J. Rukutai, who said that efforts should be made at the annual meeting of the New Zealand League to right an unjust position.
