FILMS FROM NEW YORK Two films produced by the Metropolitan, Museum W'Art, New York, 'were shown at the Auckland Society of Arts clubroopis last evening before a large gathering of members aiu. guests. Reginald Ford, presided. . ; ' During the last few years the Metropolitan Museum has produced a number of motion picture films dealing with various phases and periods of art, and an arrangement has been made by the society to present a selection before members of -the club. The technique of tapestry-weaving from the dyeing of the woollen yarn with vegetable pigments to the finished piece of work was depicted in the first - film. Modern methods of weaving vary, but slightly from those of the ancient Copts, or from the famous weavers of medieval times. Some magnificent specimens from the museum s collection, as well as famous Flemish and French tapestries, beautiful in colour and design, were shown. The many processes involved in the making of a bronze statue were shown in the second film, the famous equestrian statue of Theodore Roosevelt, being taken as an example.
