OPERATIONS AT WAIHI 45080 Z. GOLD FOR 22 DAYS [by telegraph—own correspondent] WAIHI, Thursday The following information has been cabled to the London office of the Waihi Gold Mining- Company, Limited:—For the period ended March 16, comprising 22 crushing days, 18,525 tons of ore were crushed for 4508 fine ounces of gold and 28,456 fine ounces of silver. This includes 1925 tons mined from the Grand Junction area which yielded 513 ounces of gold and 1343 ounces of silver. No. 2 Level.—Edward lode: Driving south the next 32ft. is ore of good grade, about 4ft. wide. No. 5 Level. —Martha lode: In the winze at 785 ft. west investigation is completed, and there is nothing material to report. Another winze has been commenced at 773 ft. west, following the flat vein, and is down 13ft. The assay value to this depth is _lss 6d a ton. The lode is about 3ft. wide. No. 7 Level. —North branch of the Martha lode: In the rise at 38ft. west, the next 67ft. assays 17s 3d a ton. This has now connected with the winze. Have recommenced driving west, and the next 28ft assays 4s a ton. The lode is about 2ft. wide. Junction No. 6 Level. 1 —Royal lode: Driving west, the next 43ft. assays 8s 3d a ton. The width of the lode varies from 18 to 36in. ; GOLCONDA DEVELOPMENT Golconda Mines, Limited, yesterday received the following telegram from the mine manager at Thames:—"Strong colours of coarse gold are being seen in the main reef." - ■ •' .' ; BEN LEDI SLUICING Sluicing at the Ben Ledi claim (Otago) was resumed last week. After an unusually long period of dry weather a little rain fell at the beginning of the week, bringing the water supply up sufficiently to fill fhe large nozzle tip, and sluicing was immediately resumed with three shifts.
