FUTILE STRIKE
BRISBANE MEAT WORKERS DECISION TO TERMINATE BRISBANE, March 14 A mass meeting of members of the three unions concerned in the abattoirs strike, decided to accept the recommendation of the strike committee to return to work immediately. This is the outcome of an order issued by the Industrial Court that the men must return by March 21. The president of the Meat Employees' Union said no union could stand against the Government, the Court and public opinion. Tho strike, which was organised to demand higher, wages, shorter hours and longer holidays, was commenced in the second week of February. After three weeks it was stated that the dispute had cost the State £78,000.
