RIVAL NAVAL TEAMS WIN FOR NEW ZEALAND A water-polo match played between the Australian Naval Squadron and the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy at the Tepid Baths last night re suited in victory for New Zealand bv three goals to one. The match, which was arranged by the Auckland Water Polo Control Board and decided at ono "of its usual carnivals, was ranked among hardest and most exciting contests seen in Auckland this season. Several players on each side have had much experience, including some in England, where water polo is firmly established as a spectqpular game. In consequence, play was fast and open, and skill in handling and throwing the ball was evident. New Zealand opened the scoring about four minutes after the start, the ball being passed into the Australian half, where Broad threw it into the net. Australia immediately replied with a strong attack, accurate combination paving the way for a goal by Jago. Just before the call of half-time New Zealand repulsed another attack, and Broad added a goal. The score at the interval was: —New Zealand, 2; Australia, 1. Play was much more interesting in the second spell, the teams' willingness arousing excitement among the spectators. Broad eventually succeeded in scoring another goal with a long shot.
