FAREWELL AT TE PUKE
There was a largo attendance at the Capitol Theatre, Te Puke, when a farewell social was tendered to Miss Place, a member of the staff of the Te Puke District High School, who will leave shortly on a visit to England. The function was arranged by the local Scottish Society, and* the evening was devoted to dandfng. At the supper adjournment Air. T. E. Palmer referred to the high esteem in which Aliss Place was held, and presented her with a toilet set, expressing the wish that she would have a pleasant voyage and holiday. A t>ouquet was handed'to the guest o ftho evening by Tessie Pell. Mr. W. J. Law responded for Aliss Place, after which all present joined in singing " For She's a Jolly Good Follow." During the evening an elocutionary item was contributed by Mrs. Olitev, an Irish jig by Miss Mortensen, sword dance and Highland Fling by Misses Shirley and Pauline Law respectively, and a. tap dance by Tessie Pell. <■
