I THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE J FALL IN SOUTH BRITISH A sharp fall in the sale price of South British Insurance shares and a further decline in Bank of New Zealands were features of trading on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. Turnover, although still relatively quiet, improved. Offers for Government loans showed a firmer tendency, but holders again withheld. business in debentures passed in Auckland Harbour Board, 1959, 4i per cents, at £lO6 10s, and in Gisborne Sheepfariners, 1941, 6J per cents, at £lO3. Levels in banks were irregular. New Zealands were taken twice Id lower at 49s 3d, but offers, after falling to 495, closed Id firmer at the sale price. The D mortgage issue sold unchanged at 325. Unions, selling at £8 12s 9d, were 7s 3d lower than a cum dividend transaction. The contributing issue of Nationals of Australasia 'was released Is lower at £6 7s, and Commercials of Australia [(preference) gained 6d to sell at £9 18s. A fall of 2s 9d was registered in two sales of South British Insurance at 94s 3d, but offers were 6d firmer at 945. New Zealands made a further gam, holders advancing 6d and buyers 3d. Support for Australian Provincials was sligh'jlv easier. . " Following announcement ot a dividend payment, levels for the preference issue of Benown Collieries were firmer and a parcel was placed 4d higher at 2s 7d. United Buildings (Auckland) dropped 9d in a sale at 19s 6d. In the miscellaneous section Dunlop-Perdriaus had sale Id better at 18s 9d, while business was done at current levels in Gear Meats, the contributing issue of Aew Zealand Refrigeratings and two parcels of Wilsons Cements.
