SMALL BOY DROWNED
ATTEMPT TO CROSS STREAM EAST COAST PICNIC TRAGEDY [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] GISBORNE, Monday Two small boys, Percy • Robert Ingcjim, aged six years, and Thomas Maloney, aged 12, wandered from a picnic party at Turehaua Beach yesterday afternoon,» and in attempting to cross the dammed-up mouth of a stream they got out of their depth. A passer-by saw the boy Maloney in the water and rescued him in an unconscious condition. Artificial respiration restored him.
The boy Ingram was discovered 10 minutes later, hut restorative efforts failed to revive him.
BATHING FATALITY RESIDENT OF GERALDINE [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION"] WANGANUI, Monday A young woman, Miss Audrey Barker, aged about 20, a visitor from Geraldine, Canterbury, was drowned while bathing at Kai-Iwi Beach this morning.
