NEIGHBOUR'S BEES
BOY SEVERELY STUNG PROTEST TO A COUNCIL The council at Dubbo, New South Wales, recently received a complaint from a ratepayer that 20 hives of bees owned by a neighbour were a nuisance and a menace to the health of his children. He stated that his young son bad been stung so frequently by bees that he had to take him to a doctor, who informed him ihat continual beestinging might endanger the boy's health.
The health inspector reported that, although bees were kept by several residents within 100 yards of complainant's home, the council at present had no power to take any action. He suggested a regulation prohibiting the keeping of bees nearer than 100 feet to any dwelling, school, or public place. The council referred the matter to a committee.
