AUCKLANDER'S APPOINTMENT Advice has been received of the appointment. of Mr. D. 6. Mawson, son of the Rev. W. Mawson, of Pencarrow Avenue, Mount Eden, as lecturer in mathematics for 1935 at the University of Western Australia. Mr. Mawson, who is 27 years of age, will act as assistant to Professor formerly professor of mathematics at Canterbury College. Mr. Mawson, who was educated at the Auckland Grammar School, had a brilliant scholastic career, and gained junior and senior national scholarships. Securing first place in the university entrance scholarship examination in 1924, he studied at Auckland University College, and later went s£> Otago University, where he graduated.
