MOUNT WELLINGTON BLAZE FIREMEN'S DIFFICULT TASK A fire in thick grass and scrub burned for over four hours last night on the property of Mr. M. Harding, Mount Wellington. At its height, the .fire extended over a front of about a mile, between the Panmure-St. Heliers Bay Road and Lunn Avenue, and members of the Mount Wellington brigade had a difficult task in getting it under control. Every opportunity was taken ol beating out the flaiyies when they showed signs of advancing, and ultimately the fire burned itself down until it was possible to beat out the rem When' the brigade arrived, the fire had already spread over a large area, and the wind cairied sparks and caused fresh outbreaks in other parts of the property. It was feared that the flames might cross one of the roads that bound the property, and endanger the 3s.nox Home and several houses m the vicinity.
