HONORARY DOCTORATE
NOTED ANTHROPOLOGIST [By TEI/EGRArH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] CIIRISTCHURCH, Monday Tho honorary degree of doctor of literature was conferred on Mr. Diamond Jenness by the Senate of the University of Now Zealand to-day on the recommendation of tho Academic Board. Dr. Jenness was formerly a student of Victoria University College, graduating M.A. in 1908, with first-class honours in classics. Ho is at present chief of the anthropological section under tho Canadian Government and is in charge of the anthropological department of tho Canadian National Museum, Ontario. Dr. Jenness has written numerous and oxtensivo roports on various phases of Eskimo anthropology and, in addition, a well-known book, "Children of the Twilight," published in 1928. Ho has also _ published and edited reports on American aboriginesHe is recognised as ono of the leading anthropologists of tho present day and his published works are evidence of his outstanding literary ability*
