Jan. 10 The first test cricket match between the visiting English team and West Indies was won to-day by the visitors. The pitch again was drenched by rain in the night. West Indies resumed batting at 3.30 p.m. on a " glue-pot" due to the sun and lost three wickets in a quarter of an hour. Thereupon Grant audaciously declared the innings closed. Excitement was intense as English .wickets fell, but Wyatt filled the breach and kept up his wicket while Hammond scored. One of the most extraordinary test matches in the history of the game endctl with a glorious six by Hammond.
