"NEW DEAL" IN FRANCE

) INDUSTRIAL CODES PLANNED

GOVERNMENT'S MEASURE PARIS. Jan. 10 The French Cabinet has tabled a bill providing for industrial codes resembling a modified American " New Deal " in an attempt to adjust production and consumption. Only depressed and important industries are affected by the bill, which will have international repercussions based upon the examples of the United States, Britain, Italy and Germany. The bill envisages the restriction and limitation of working hours, the withholding of stocks and loan issues, and the rationalisation of industry. The Government intends that industries shall co-operato voluntarily, but has assumed the right to enforce agreements.
