PREHISTORIC FOREST

The remains of a prehistoric forest have been discovered in the neighbourhood of Nagykoros, Hungary, by Professor Adam Boros, the well-known natural historian. This forest contains the. only hornbeam wood between the Danube and the Tisza, a survival of the prehistoric period, and a small oak ■wood of the same period. Among the flowers in the forest are many examples of the Dianthus diuthinus, a characteristic carnation of the prehistoric times. The town of Nagykoros intends to cultivate and preserve the survivals of the past.
