Boy's Tent for the Garden

Procure eight broomsticks (four uprights for A A A A, and four for crossbars B B B B). A thin piece of wood. 4ft. by 3Jin. high (C). Eight strong meat-skewers, with their heads cut off (D). Four pieces of rope, Bft. each (E). Four wooden pegs shaped as (F). Four flat pieces of wood, with two hole 3 in each, marked (G) and seveij yards of 50-in. material (canvas or balloon cloth or unbleached sheeting). Take an upright broomstick, and fix a skewer in each end of it. Do this with all four. Take a crossbar broomstick, and make a small hole through it at each end. Do the same thing with all four crossbars. The skewers will all be useful. At the bottom end they are to be stuck in the ground.

DIRECTIONS

4ft. apart, while at the top, they aro to go through the holes made in the crossbars. Now place (C) on top as shown and drive the four pegs in the ground, and slide the ropes up till taut. Thus you have your skeleton framework. Tie the length of material round the poles with tapes, but cut off a piece for the top. The roof will slant from (C), and in this way prevent the rain "settling." The ends of the skewers sticking up will go through the canvas, and keep it in position, and the valance will cover all, and look tidy, plain, or scalloped. These measurements are for a small tent, but if you have longer poles, of course, it will be quite a commodious affair (if you place your poles 6ft. apart).
