SHEEP'S WOODEN LEG

A sheep which had roamed the highlands of Scotland for eighteen months was recently found on arrival at Liverpool market to have a wooden leg. Mr. A. Crook, of the Liverpool Abattoir, said it was the most astonishing example of animal surgery he had seen. " About four inches of the hind leg," he said, " were missing, and a wooden stump, probably cut from the handle of a shepherd's crook, had been fitted into place and secured with a beautifully made leather gaiter and laces."
