CHILD LOSES SIGHT

A fivo-yoar-old child who caught another complaint while a patient in a London County Council hospital, and is now blind, is to be maintained for life by the council. Following an action against the council for damages :i tentative settlement has been reached. The child is to be educated in a residential school for blind children, plus payment of 10s a week till the age of l(i. The council will try to find work for the child after leaving school, hut gives no guarantee. From the age of 1(5 the child will receive £~ a week for life. Plaintiff's costs, £l5O, are also being paid by the council. Mr. Herbert -Morrison, leader of the council, stated. "It is terribly sad. and wO are taking steps, so far as is humanly possibly, to make sure such a case does not occur again."
