THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE KEEN INTEREST IN BANKS Heavy trading in bank shares marked business on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday, half the sales on the official list being in this section. Holders of Government loans again kept off the market, and buyers general 1 v were firmer. However, a decline of 5s was shown in offers for 1946 4 per cent stock. The 1944-62 and 1944-66 Auckland City 4} per cent debentures were both done at £lO4 10s. Movements in banks were irregular. A sale of the preference issue of Commercials ol Australia at £lO showed an advance of Is 6d, while Nationals of New Zealand were done at £3 10s 9d, a fall of Is 9d compared with the last sale, cum dividend. Reserve Banks were 6d lower on sale at £6 12s, and Unions gained 4s in a transaction at £9 Is 6d. Two parcels of Now South Wales and a parcel of New Zealands changed hands at current rates. There was no trading in insurance shares, quotations for which were unchanged. A sale of the preference issue of Renown Collieries; was at the uncharged rate of 2s; but lat€i offer fell from Is lOd to Is 9d, while holders raised their limits, from 2s to 2s 3d For the ordinary issue offers were 3u easier at 4s 9d. Conditions were fairly steady in the other classified sections. An easing of Id was recorded in Consolidated Bricks, which sold at ius while Farmers' Tradings were taken unchanged at 7s. Limits for Colonial Sugars closed 2s 6d easier, buyers offer£42 os to holders' quotations of £42 12s 6d. Following announcement ol an increased dividend offers f° r t,iecontributing issues of New ZcalancUUfnL -- ating firmed by 3d to 10s 3d, but the fully paid shares were unchanged.

FLOUR IN ENGLAND CANADIAN WHEAT WANTED LONDON, Jan. 10 A deputation of millers waited upon the Dominions Secretary, Mr. J. 11.
