BOWLING TOURNEY
THE PRESIDENT ENTERTAINS
EVENING RECEPTION HELD
During their visit to Auckland the contestants in the annual New Zealand bowling tourney and their wives have been entertained at several social functions, one of the most delightful of which was the reception given last evening by the president of the New Zealand Bowling Association, Mr. Raymond Sheath, and Mrs. Sheath, in the Milne and Choyce rooms. The reception hall, the Tudor room and balcony were thrown open to accommodate the guests, of whom there were over 1000 present, these including representatives from the kindred clubs in Auckland as well as visitors. Miss Joyce Sheath was in a blue and white figured organdie frock with a multi-coloured sash. An enjoyable musical programme was presented, comprising a violin solo by Mrs. Greenfield-, a pianoforte solo by Mrs. Gordon Robertson; songs by Miss Rose Kennedy, Miss Phyllis Gribbin and Mr. Frank Sutherland; humorous items by Mr. Alan McElwain; and a monologue by Professor Maxwell Walker.
