ROTORUA NEWS

A delightful garden party was arranged by Miss M. Mactier at her home in Haupapa Street on Wednesday afternoon, the occasion being in honour of Miss Naome Kelly, whose marriage takes place next week. The hostess received the guests wearing a frock of Chinese red and ivory floral sand crepe. The party took the form of a recipe afternoon, in which each guest brought a contribution for the large recipe book which was presented to Miss Kelly during the afternoon, together with tho very best of wishes for her future happiness. Competitions were held during the afternoon, the winners being Miss Gwen Dillon, Miss Sanchia Wilson and Miss Jean Allen. Afternoon tea was served on the lawn beneath the cool, shady trees. Those present were:—Mrs. McCutcheon, Mrs. S. Collins, Miss E. Kelly, Miss N. Allen, Miss J. Allen, Miss G. Dillon, Miss H. Ford, Miss Iv. Kingon, Miss Y. Ingham, Miss S. Wilson, Miss M. Lasenby, Miss 0. Schultz, Miss J. Winslado, and Miss C. Wilson.

Mrs. E. M. Dannefaerd, Arawa Street, is spending a holiday at Takapuna. Mrs. Keith Buchanan, who has been staying with her mother, Mrs. J. M. Stokes, in Arawa Street, has returned to her home in Remuera. Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Barker have returned from a motor tour of the North and have now taken up their residence in .Ranolf Avenue.

Mrs. Duncan McDiarmid. Remuern, is spending a holiday in Rotorua. Mrs. Nicholas. Arawa Street, is at. present at her beaeh house at Mount Maunganui, Tauranga. Miss Ruby Grant, Wellington, is the guest of her sister, Mrs. P. A. Kusabs, Ruihi Street.

Mrs. S. H. Hay and family left this week to spend a holiday at Mount Maunganui, Tauranga. Miss E. McDowell is spending the holidays with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. McDowell. Lytton Street. Miss Gwen Griffiths. Hamilton, is spending a holiday in Rctorua and is the guest of Mrs R. Griffiths, Hotel Arawa.

Mrs. C. Young and Miss C. Young leave this week for Mount Maunganui, where they will spend several weeks. Mrs. G. W. Bridger, Whakatane, will return at the week-end after spending a holiday with her daughter, Mrs. W. G. Marshall. Seddon Street. The Misses M. and T. Allen, Auckland, who have had a flat in Rotorua for some weeks, have now left for Waihi Beach

Miss Mirams, Auckland, has been visiting Rotorua. Mrs. F. Bunvard. Amohia Street, is at present visiting her sister, Mrs. W. Russell, at Taupo. Miss Margaret Budd, Victoria Street, returned this week from a holiday at Mount Maunganui. Miss Thelma Austin. Sydney, who has been in Rotorua for the. past month, leaves next week for Auckland, prior to embarking on the Monowai for a cruise to the North Mrs. W. McLean, Lytton Street, and her daughter Marjorie have returned from a holiday .it Oliope Beach. Mrs. F. Bridger, Whakatane, and family are spending a holiday in Rotorua.

Mrs. J. Banks, Whakarewarewa, left by car on Wednesday 011 a motor tour of the north. Mrs. H. M. Newton. Remuera, it* at present visiting Rotorua. Miss Joan Bertram, Glenholm, returned during the week-end from a visit to Gisborne.

Miss Nancy Bamford. Auckland, is spending a holiday at Lake Rotoiti. Miss B. Husband, Auckland, is visiting Rotorua and is the guest of Mrs. F. A. Meredith at her summer cottage at Lake Rotoiti.
