RAILWAY YARDS FIRE
SLIGHT DAMAGE TO SHEDS FLAMES SOON SUPPRESSED Slight damage to the locomotive sheds in the Auckland railway yards was done by a fire, at noon yesterday. The fire broke out in a corner of the building, and an srea of the roofing was destroyed. Railway workers used hoses to prevent the spread of the flames to the whole roof before the fire brigade arrived, and no difficulty in subduing the outbreak was experienced. It was necessary to remove some of the engines from the shed while the structure was ' threatened. To subdue the outbreat "•*» the firemen had to run several hundred feet of hose from the waterfront road. < The caiise of the fire is thought to have been a spark from a passing engine.
