TAUPIRI DRAINAGE

RAISING OF £IO,OOO LOAN [from our own* corrkspondf.nt] HAMILTON, Thursday A resolution was passed at a meeting of the Taupiri Drainage and River Board this morning formally expressing the board's intention to raise a loan of £IO,OOO in accordance Avith its undertaking when the Public Works Department commenced the work of draining the Taupiri swamp. The sum is the board's contribution to the £150,000 which the scheme is estimated to cost.

The resolution also made special security rates, the amounts being in the North Mangawara, Tauhei and Freshfield wards, 7sd, South Mangawara and Komokorau wards, 6d, Ten Foot ward, 2d. These rates apply to "A" land, being reducible in the proportions of 12, 1), G, 3, 2 and 1, according to the six classes of rateable land into which the area has been divided.
