INFECTIOUS DISEASES
DECREASE IN DECEMBER THREE LOCAL DISTRICTS Notifications of infectious diseases in the three health districts controlled from Auckland totalled 65 in December, a decrease of 16 in comparison with the total for December, 1933. The total for November last year was 74. The number of cases in the Auckland Central district for December was 51, the same total as that for the corresponding month in the preceding year. Last month's notifications included seven cases of scarlet feVer, four of diphtheria, 13 of tuberculosis and six of food poisoning. In the South Auckland district 12 infectious cases were notified, as against 16 in December, 1933. They included three cases of scarlet fever, six of diphtheria, two of tuberculosis and one of tetanus.
Only two infectious cases, one of diphtheria and the other tuberculosis, were reported in the Thames-Tauranga district. The notifications in December, 1933, totalled 14.
